Halloween Activities and Centers for Little Learners
Do you find yourself searching for fun and engaging hands-on activities for your young students only to find that many are too challenging or not age appropriate? I struggled for the longest time to find fun and thematic activities that were also developmentally appropriate for my kiddos. It inspired me to create this Halloween Activities and Centers packet that includes 18 interactive centers with 5 instructional pages to get your centers set up for success. These centers work on Letter Recognition, Number Recognition, Counting, Colors, Patterns, Fine Motor Skills, and more!
At the start of each month, I love to switch up my centers to be thematic with the month or season. It’s such a fun way to get into the spirit of the season and it makes it even more fun and engaging for the kids. October is one of my FAVORITE months to celebrate (Hocus Pocus, anyone?!) and I’m always looking for ways to create hands-on learning experiences for my young kiddos. You can also use these activities for your early finishers!
Let’s take a peek into the Halloween Activities and Centers for Little Learners 😍
Monster Eyes Counting
Your students will have a blast practicing one-to-one with this silly monster eyes counting activity! Laminate the mats and cards to use again and again. Grab some googly eyes and your fun hat for this one!
Tip* I find the larger googly eyes are easier to manage with this activity.
Halloween Alphabet Brew
Double, Double, Toil and Trouble!
Students stir this Alphabet brew while working on their letter recognition. Students stir, pull a card, then color the correct letter on their Alphabet Brew worksheet.
Tip* Use a large cauldron to place the letters in.
Web Words
Sight words practice can be a tricky thing to navigate. There is a time and place for flash cards but I prefer to opt for a more engaging and hands-on way of learning sight words. Students pull a card, say the word, then build the word in the web using magnetic letters.
Tip* There are over 20 different sight word cards for this activity. You can modify and focus on two, three, or four letter words, depending on your students’ level.
Spin and Cover Halloween Candy
Hello fine motor practice! Students strengthen those fingers in this activity by using a paper clip and pencil to spin the spinner. Kiddos then use the tweezers to place a pom-pom on the correct candy.
Tip* Use easy grip safety tweezers for this activity. I found mine at Lakeshore Learning (click here to grab them now!)
