St. Patty’s Day!

We had yet another successful St. Patrick’s Day! We asked that students build leprechaun traps at home for homework, then bring them to school on St. Patrick’s Day (Friday) to see if we could catch any little people. But you won’t BELIEVE what happened when we set the traps.

We placed the traps all over the room, left the classroom door open, and went to recess, hoping that it would lure a leprechaun inside our room. After recess, we decided to go on a leprechaun hunt to see if any were lurking around the school. When we couldn’t find a leprechaun, we decided to head back to the classroom. We approached the door, and you wouldn’t believe it, but the door was closed and there was green tinsel hanging all from the handle!

We raced to the classroom, threw open the door, and the room had been destroyed! Chairs had been knocked over, traps had been set off, and there were gold coins and glittery shamrocks everywhere! The kids went CRAZY! Then we saw that the leprechaun had left us a note on the white board saying  “Haha hehe couldn’t catch me, but I left a treat for you to eat!” We saw that they left us shamrock shakes, and it tasted just like vanilla ice cream and 7-up, but the drink was green, so I’m not sure how those crazy leprechauns made that stuff!

So we gobbled up our Shamrock Shakes and took our leprechaun traps home, hoping that maybe we could catch one at our home later that night. Sneaky leprechauns….
