Pumpkin Activities for Preschool

Looking for some pumpkin activities to do with your little learners? This fabulous pumpkin activities for preschool pack has 18 different pumpkin themed activities to use in your classroom! Thematic activities have so many great benefits for preschoolers as it is (e.g., real world connection, cross curricular, etc) and these pumpkin activities are no exception!

I love it when activities can hit multiple skills in one go; it means each activity packs a lot of punch with less planning and prepping for the teacher. Win-Win! This activity set has 18 themed pumpkin activities that cover multiple skills in each activity such as; letter recognition, letter writing and formation, number recognition, counting, 1:1, colors, sight words, fine motor, science skills and so much more! I can’t wait to share it with you, let’s take a sneak peek inside the pack!

Build a Letter with Pumpkin Seeds

Grab some pumpkins seeds and start building all the letters of the alphabet! Your preschoolers will be delighted to use real pumpkin seeds while practicing their letters and letter formation. Don’t forget to have a special taste test at the end! 😋

Tip ✨ Use these at a center and then transition to an early finisher activity.

Pumpkin Play Dough Shapes

Play dough is one of the best ways you can wrap play and fine motor practice into one. Kiddos roll, knead, pinch, and pull to create different pumpkin shapes. Be sure to have your preschoolers say the name of each shape before creating it, that way they are saying it, seeing it, and doing it, total physical response! 🥳

Tip ✨ Laminate these cards to easily wipe and clean to use again and again.

Pumpkin Vine Links

Looking for a unique way to use those links in your classroom? This pumpkin vine counting hits fine motor practice, number recognition, and 1:1. Plus, it’s so fun your preschoolers will be begging to do it again and again!

Tip ✨ Have your students pull out all of the green links first to create the vines. This pre-activity hits on sorting! 🙌

Pumpkin Life Cycle Craft

Do you know how pumpkins grow? Your students will be able to answer back with a resounding “YES!” after creating this pumpkin life cycle craft. This activity has a song that students sing while going through the life cycle of a pumpkin sequence. Bonus: Kiddos take this home to practice and sing at home with their families!

Tip ✨ This is based on a wonderful song written by Amanda Ellis, “Do You Know How Pumpkins Grow.” Play the youtube version of this song for students before working on the craft. 🤩
