5 things I stopped doing that took me from almost 5 things I stopped doing that took me from almost quitting… to actually loving teaching again 🫶👇1. I stopped staying late. ⏰Go home. Seriously. I know you’ve heard it a million times and it’s borderline obnoxious at this point... but it’s true. There will ALWAYS be more to do. It literally never ends. If your students have something meaningful to do tomorrow… leave. The rest will get done. Eventually. 😅2. I stopped spending time on stuff that didn’t actually matter. 🎨I look back now and I’m honestly embarrassed at how long I spent rearranging bulletin boards. They’re five. They do not care. 😂 Throw it up, make it functional, and move on… it’s coming down in a month anyway. 🫠3. I stopped taking everything personally. 💛Parents will question you. Some will blame you. Some will say things that sting. What helped me most was remembering: hurt people hurt people.I started praying for them, leading with kindness, and protecting my peace. It worked more often than you’d think. ✨4. I stopped obsessing over the negative behavior. 👀The more attention I gave the blurting, whining, and off-task behavior… the bigger it got.So I flipped it.Instead of calling out what students weren’t doing, I celebrated what others were doing.“Wow, look at my friend Susan… she looks SO ready.”And just like that… the rest started following. 🙌5. I stopped trying to do it all on my own. 🌱For some reason, I thought asking for help made me look inexperienced. So anytime a veteran teacher offered support… I’d politely decline.(I went to college for this. I know what I’m doing. 😅)Spoiler: I did not.The moment I humbled myself, accepted mentorship, and let experienced teachers pour into me… everything changed. My confidence grew, my classroom improved, and my students—and I—started thriving. 💛My friend… you do NOT have to figure this out alone.✨ Follow for kind, fun, and wildly effective classroom management strategies… because teaching gets a whole lot lighter when you stop carrying it all by yourself. 🫶🏻#classroommanagement #behaviormanagement #firstyearteacher #prek
If your classroom feels like an episode of Survivo If your classroom feels like an episode of Survivor — alliances forming, people getting ratted out, and someone being dramatic about absolutely everything 😂 — this is your sign to pause everything and teach THIS first. 👇Before we can expect kids to make good choices with each other, they need to actually know what a good choice looks like. This little sorting worksheet does so much heavy lifting:✂️ Cut & paste = engagement🧠 Categorizing = real thinking about real situations💬 Discussion = the magic happens HERE, not on the paperYou work so hard every single day, and you deserve every tool that makes this job a little easier. So for Day 5 of my Teacher Appreciation giveaway — this one’s yours. Free. 🎁Comment GIFT below and I’ll send this Helpful vs. Hurtful Choices sorting worksheet straight to your inbox. 💌#classroommanagement #behaviormanagement #firstyearteacher #prekteacher #teacherappreciation
For the longest time, I thought classroom manageme For the longest time, I thought classroom management was to RESPOND to challenging student behavior as calmly and as quickly as possible. But the game-changer for me was backing way up and asking: have I actually taught this student what a good choice looks like?So that’s where I started.I use an activity I call Helpful vs. Hurtful Choices. I do this for the WHOLE class. We talk about it, we practice it, and suddenly “make a good choice” isn’t just something I’m saying at them. They actually know what that means. Then comes the reinforcement. I use a simple star chart system for my MOST challenging students. They earn a star when I catch them making a good choice, and 5 stars = a reward. It sounds almost too simple, but that combo of teaching the expectation and then celebrating it when they meet it changed everything for me. 🙌🏻🌟 AND — because it’s Day 4 of my 5 Day Teacher Appreciation Giveaway Week — I’m giving away my star chart system for FREE! Just comment GIFT below and I’ll send it straight to your DMs. 🎁#classroommanagement #behaviormanagement #firstyearteacher #kindergartenteachers #prekteacher

If every teacher did this one thing, behavior prob If every teacher did this one thing, behavior problems would drop dramatically 👇We’ve been taught to give a consequence and move on. But that’s a missed opportunity every single time.Kids often misbehave because they genuinely don’t know or remember what to do instead. So instead of just correcting them — teach them. Then make them practice it.That’s the do-over. And it is one of the most powerful tools in your classroom management toolkit.Save this for the next time a student runs in the classroom, grabs a toy, or has a meltdown at the carpet. You’ve got this. 💛#classroommanagement #behaviormanagement #firstyearteacher #kindergartenteachers #prekteacher
