Rainbow Rice Recipe
Are you obsessed with rainbows and bright colors? Flair pens and Astrobrights? Then you might be a teacher! I have a bit of an obsession with multi-colored anything and this rainbow rice recipe is no exception! This easy recipe is a great way to jazz up your sensory bin and give your classroom that extra pop of color that is oh-so fun! You can even use it at home for your own kiddos. This rainbow rice recipe is so easy, it’s ridiculous. And all you need is 3 simple ingredients: white rice, food coloring, and water. THAT’S IT!
Rainbow Rice Recipe: 6 Easy Steps
Step 1: Measure out 1 cup of white rice. (Make sure that it’s white rice and not brown rice!)
Step 2: Pour the white rice into a sandwich size ziplock baggie.
Step 3: Place 1 tablespoon of water into the baggie of rice. Shake up the baggie to get the water evenly dispersed.
Step 4: Squeeze 5-10 drops of food coloring into the sandwich baggie. (I suggest starting out conservatively. Start with just a few drops, and then if you want a deeper color, you can add more).
Step 5: Zip up the baggie, shake the baggie, and begin to mix the dye into the rice.
Step 6: Place the now colored rice onto a paper towel. Allow to sit and dry for 5-10 minutes. Mine dried in less than 5 minutes, but to be on the safe side you can leave it for longer. I recommend checking the rice by lightly touching it to see if any dye gets on your hand. If not, you’re good to go!
Step 7: Repeat steps 1-6 with different color dyes.
